
Considered among Pasadena’s most distinguished investment counseling firms, Osher Van de Voorde was co-founded in 1993 by Van de Voorde and his long-time business partner and mentor Bob Osher.
As the firm’s President and Principal, James is responsible for designing and implementing investment and financial planning strategies for clients. He developed the firm's valuation model that helps identify suitable investment opportunities and is responsible for the construction of client portfolios, including security selection and sector allocation. James brings a strong background in financial planning to the investment management business and pioneered the OVIM "Bridge Evaluation", a comprehensive approach to planning that offers a clear overview of life priorities and planning goals, ensures that investment portfolios are properly aligned with those goals and minimizes exposure to unnecessary risk. Van de Voorde also authors OVIM’s highly regarded quarterly newsletter.
James graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Urban Studies, completed the U.C. Berkeley Extension financial planning coursework and is a Certified Retirement Counselor. He is a member of the Economic Round Table, the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, Pasadena Breakfast Forum and the Estate Planning Council of the San Gabriel Valley.
Van de Voorde has served on numerous boards, including the Foundation and Governing Boards at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, the Alumni Board, LionsFund Council and Athletic Director’s Council at Loyola Marymount University, the National Education Foundation and Far West Alumni Advisory Board for Alpha Delta Gamma, the Board of Directors at Oakmont Country Club and Finance Committee at Flintridge Sacred Heart.
James is a daily meditator, dedicated yogi, wine and food enthusiast and aspiring golfer. He and his wife Maggi live in Pasadena.
